TSE - tax office compliance and legal certainty for your cash register

Subsequent changes and deletion of data in the POS system were not uncommon for some operators until a few years ago - until the Technical Security Device (TSE) was introduced in Germany as part of the Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV). It is intended to ensure the proper and tamper-proof storage of transaction data in the POS system. All transitional periods have now expired and every electronic cash register must meet the requirements of the KassenSichV, otherwise operators face high fines and tax assessments. Only the open store cash register without an electronic cash register system continues to play a legitimate special role.

TSE - An indispensable security module for cash register systems

The TSE is a security module that must be integrated into the POS system. The TSE can be displayed both physically (e.g. microSD cards and USB sticks) and as a cloud solution. It logs all data entered and ensures that no data is subsequently changed or deleted unnoticed. Furthermore, the records must be kept and stored securely and in accordance with regulations. This is laid down in the principles for the proper management and storage of books, records and documents in electronic form (GoBD). The data from the TSE can be read out directly in the cash register via a digital export function and made available to the tax office if required.

Data security and tax compliance

Overall, TSEs offer an effective way of guaranteeing the integrity of cash register data, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and increasing operational efficiency. The combination of tamper protection, data security and automated data recording makes them an indispensable tool for companies that want to comply with legal requirements and optimize their processes at the same time. Audit processes are simplified and accelerated, benefiting both the tax authorities and the operators.

Important notes

The ITR POS system supports the manufacturers Swissbit and Cryptovision (D-Trust). With regard to Cryptovision, we would like to remind you that older models must be replaced due to an error and the applicable transition periods must be observed. In addition, the tax authorities have defined a reporting obligation to comply with certain transitional periods, which is also mandatory.
